Because if it ended with happy ending, we wouldn't be sitting here, talking about this film. If you want to feel for Evelyn, if you feel that there is a lot of injustice in our world. If you want people leaving the cinema with a feeling that they should do something about it. If it is all dealt for them by the filmmakers, they just forget about it over the dinner. That's it.
I remember when I was a kid I saw Of Mice and Men. I remember I loved the film. And it stayed with me for so long. I felt so sorry for that Lennie. I thought that what a pity Lennie couldn't be saved. And then I realized that if Lennie was saved, I would forget about it the next day.
